It really was a family affair earlier this month at SCAD Lacoste. Ralph Nauta of DRIFT, who collaborated with Family Style for our Summer 2024 art cover, was just one of many friends at the table in the Provençal gardens of SCAD's Acorn Cottage to unveil the Spring 2025 season at the institution's French campus. The artist was fresh from the opening of DRIFT's new permanent installation at the university, Unfold. Tucked into the just-renovated Goat Tower, the A.I. experience uses biometrics to generate flora inspired by plant life from the local region. The artist was joined by SCAD President and Founder Paula Wallace, Family Style's Joshua Glass and a motley crew of academics and artisans as well as curators from Christian Dior, who were in town to install "Jardins Rêvés." The first exhibition in the Provence region dedicated to the iconic French designer is staged in Pierre Cardin's former art gallery at SCAD Lacoste, and explores how the floral garden has been a source of inspiration since Dior founded his brand in 1946. Indeed, in the historic village of SCAD Lacoste, all were enchanted.
