The wonderful, whimsical world of Wes Anderson is expanding into pens. Montblanc has paired up with the director to create the Schreiberling ("scribbler") Limited Edition 1969. Some eagle-eyed film buffs may recognize the writing instrument from the pair's previous collaboration, a short film about the luxury brand’s design evolution, 100 Years of Meisterstück (2024), which the filmmaker starred in and directed, cheekily teasing the release of the object year prior. Now available to the public in a limited edition run (1,969 pens available to commemorate Anderson's birth year), the Schreiberling is much more than a stationary accessory: Its green and yellow colorway is an extension of the filmmaker's world, a nod to the symmetrically pleasing visuals of his films like Moonrise Kingdom (2012) and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014).
The miniature fountain pen's design is inspired by coral-tinted tin toolboxes found across Anderson's filmography. A platinum coating covers the nib, complimenting the olive and lemon body. And the cap is topped with Montblanc's logo. In Anderson fashion, inside the velvet-lined pen case is a matching set of stationary tools: an olive-bound notebook, ink cartridge refills, and a three-dimensional wooden ruler.

Schreiberling bridges the gap between Anderson’s fantastical fictional realms and his real world productions. Coinciding with the launch of the fountain pen, Anderson also collaborated with Oliver Peoples to release a 10-pair collection of limited-edition sunglasses inspired by his latest film, The Phoenician Scheme (2025). While Montblanc is also no stranger to collaborations, from famed former professional French footballer and current coach Zinédine Zidane, to Parisian brand Maison Kitsune, to the manga series Naruto, Anderson’s continued relationship with the house makes his collection a standout. The result is a pen that is playful, bold, and recognizably Anderson.
The Schreiberling is available this month at Montblanc stores and online.
