This breakfast staple is only complete when topped off with fruit and nuts.

Before long days of studio shoots and on-site assignments, Berlin- and Paris-based photographer Laura Schaeffer starts her day with a banana. “It is my ultimate favorite snack,” she tells Family Style of the potassium-rich fruit. “I have one for breakfast every day, usually with oats and in all sorts of combinations.” Add-ons like blueberries, cinnamon, and pecans keep Schaeffer coming back for more. “It’s incredibly simple, and yet somehow I have not gotten sick of it—on the contrary, I derive a lot of comfort from this little routine.”
