Marika Thunder’s take on this American classic is packed with nutrients and nostalgia.

Whether in the studio or the kitchen, artist Marika Thunder’s work speaks to a collective consciousness of memories. From painting the inner workings of an engine to raindrops on a window, the New York-based painter cherishes often overlooked, mundane experiences. Her inspiration reaches beyond canvases to her recipes, too, like a homemade meatloaf that she has spent weeks perfecting. “Last night I made the best one,” Thunder tells Family Style. “It's so bomb and healthy—I promise.”
